Sad News – Passing of Kausalya Pabla member of sangat

Kausalya Pabla passed away suddenly yesterday, Thursday, September 27, 2012.  She was a loving soul who has served the community for a long time in the Washington area.

She and her husband, Dr. Gursewa Singh Pabla, have supported many community initiatives including long time presence in the affairs of GNFA and giving financial donations to Guru Gobind Singh Foundation. They have been tremendously generous and have offered a helping hand to many newcomers in the area in the last three decades. She hosted many community events at her home to strengthen the growing community in the Washington area. They both have provided support for the issues of the Sikhs in America and in India.

She was a kind hearted, soft spoken and humble personality and did lot of sewa. She possessed a unique quality of making everyone smile with her demeanor and will show love even for a stranger in the Gurdwara. She will be missed by the community at large. Sangat of Gurudwara Sahib,
Guru Nanak Foundation of America

Respected members,

As you are aware of the tragedy of mass shooting at the Sikh Gurdwara in Oak Creek, Wisconsin on Sunday in what law enforcement has described as an act of domestic terrorism. The entire Sikh community, like all Americans, is shocked at this senseless act of violence. This is a sad day for the entire world and we offer our deepest sympathy to the victims’ families. We appreciate the heroic actions of the Oak Creek Wisconsin police officers, who rushed to the Gurdwara to save many lives at the risk of their own.

The management of the GNFA has decided to have a candlelight vigil and Memorial for Peace at the grounds of our Gurdwara Sahib at 12917 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Spring, MD 20904 on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at 8:00 pm and Friday, August 10, 2012, at 8:00 pm. Please join us on both days. You are requested to inform all your friends and families to attend this candlelight vigil in rememberance of the Oak Creek shooting Victims.
