On July 15th, GNFA Chairperson, Dr. Arvinder Kaur Uppal presented $2,000 Merit Award to Ajit Singh Gill who will continue his college education Honors Program – School of Business at the George Washington University, Washington DC.
Every year GNFA gives one $2,000 Merit Award to a college bound High School graduate. Criteria for the award: GPA and SAT score; involvement in the GNFA activities; GNFA membership of individual and parents; score in an extempore – Sikhi related essay; and, an interview.
Education Committee compiles the list of qualified candidates and pass on to Judges.
Finally, an independent panel of three (3) judges pickup the winner based on essay6, interview and one’s achievements in and outside of GNFA Community. All achievement awards, accreditation and citations are carefully evaluated.
Four (4) meritorious students (all with weighted GPA of over 4.00) applied for this Award. Evaluation score indicated, it was a close competition. In right prospective, they are all winners, however, our congratulations go to Ajit Singh. Ajit is son of Kirandeep Kaur and Kuljit Singh Gill.
Also, on Sunday, July 15th, GNFA recognized sixteen (16) – College (5), and High School (11) graduates of GNFA Community.
Year 2012, graduates were:
College – Navneet Kaur Sehdev; Beneta Kaur Ahuja; Sidak Kaur; Jyoti Sardana; Hirdesh Matta.
High School – Nihal Singh; Ajit Singh Gill; Nimarta Kaur Chowdhary; Prabhleen Kaur; Raveena Kaur Ahuja; Amreen Kaur; Navneet Kaur; Haneet Singh; Sahib Singh; Rishab Khatri and Talwinder Kaur Nagi. Every graduate got GNFA Certificate and a gift pack from Khalsa School, containing Sikhi related books and DVDs.
