“Surinder Kaur Ahuja Girls Scholarship for Excellence in Service and Education” in the amount of $3000 is available for any girl residing in the DMV area who is entering or continuing college education. It’s based on Need, Merit and Service.  It is sponsored by the Ahuja family and is being launched by the Young Khalsa Girls (YKG). The application form is attached.

GNFA Youth Merit Award and Graduates Recognition – 2017

GNFA is pleased to announce its 2017 Youth Merit Award of $2,000 to a College bound HS Senior. Please read the attached compliance criteria and submit the application form no later than July 16, 2017. (You may handover your application to Gajinder Singh on Sunday, July 16th in Room #3 between 9:30 AM to 12:00 noon)Please Attach the following supporting Documents:

  • Letter from college of admission
  • GPA Score
  • Sat Score
  • One page write up of community service and participation in: (a) GNFA and (b) outside of GNFA

 

  1. On Saturday, July 22ndyou will write a 500 words, extempore, Sikhi related essay, and a panel of Judges will interview and pick up the Merit Award Winner. The award will be presented in the afternoon Diwaan of Sunday, July 23rd.

 

  1. GNFA will also recognize all 2017 High School and College graduatesofGNFA Community on Sunday, July 23th in the afternoon Diwan (your presence is required). Please reply this e-mail and forward your name to Gajinder Singh ASAP.

Welcome Sat Sangat Ji and Fellow Americans, My name is Dilraj Singh Floura and I’m a student in GNFA Khalsa School. It is an honor for me to talk about Sikhism as I am a proud Sikh American.

 

Sikhism is a progressive and modern religion found about 500 years ago, and was well ahead of it’s time.  There are over 2 million sikhs around the world, 500,000 live in America.  Sikhs have been in America for over 100 years.

The dharmik committee of Guru Nanak Foundation of America, Silver Spring, Maryland, extends its warm invitation to you to participate in the 13th Annual Washington Capital Youth Kirtan Sammelan to be held at GNFA on Saturday, May 27from 10 am-6:00 pm. The goal of this sammelan is to encourage our youth to sing shabad-pardhan gurbani kirtan incorporating traditional elements like mangalacharan and shaan, to the accompaniment of Sikh heritage instruments like rabab, saranda, dilruba, taus, sarangi and jori.
The rules and guidelines, judging criteria and registration form are attached.

Dear Sadh Sangat ji,

The Young Khalsa Girls (YKG) have organized an afternoon of family bonding, food (chai and pakodas) and games (bingo) for the elders in our community. This is a FREE event for all. The event is called Hola Mahala Hangama is held on a Sunday, March 12, 2pm to 4pm at Marilyn Praisner Community Center in Burtonsville. This is 5 minutes from GNFA. Free rides from GNFA parking lot will be provided from 1:30pm onwards to the event. Please text/call contact 443 629 0794 to arrange a free ride.
All families are welcome to bring their elders to this event. There is no hidden agenda, the only goal of YKG is to have our youth BOND with the elders in our community, and have a family fun day. To give back a little of their time to the elders (grandparents) who have given them so much. Please grace this event with your presence, it will mean a lot to us. We need everyones support. Most of all the elders in our community deserve this special day just for them.
