August 31 Application Deadline for 2016 Trustee Positions

August 31, 2015 is the application deadline for 2016 trustee positions at GNFA.
Interested GNFA members must submit completed application with fees at the treasurer’s desk by August 31.
There are 5 vacancies for contributing trustee positions and 2 for elected trustees.
The contributing trustees have a term of five years, and the elected trustees have a term of two years.
Candidates will be elected through the elections on November 15, 2015 at GNFA.
Minimum qualifications for trustee candidates are:
He/she must have been a general member of GNFA in good standing for at least two consecutive years immediately preceding the date of the application.
He/she must have served on any GNFA committee for a period of at least one year.
He/she must not be a member of the immediate family(same household) of a trustee of GNFA.

GNFA Merit Award & Graduates Recognition – 2015

On July 26th, GNFA Chairperson, Dr. Darshan Singh Saluja presented $2,000 Merit

Award to Jaskeerat Kaur, who will continue her education for Bachelor of Science

degree in the field of Public Health and Pre-med Studies at the University of

Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). UMBC is an American public research and

honors university, located in Baltimore County, Maryland. .

Our congratulations go to Jaskeerat Kaur who is the daughter of Tajinder Kaur and

Gurvinder Singh Ahluwalia.

GNFA HOSTS SUCCESSFUL YOUTH KIRTAN SAMMELAN-program archived

The Dharmik Committee thanks the participants, parents, our bhai sahibs, teachers, and volunteers for a very successful sammelan on May 23 in which 39 youth jathas participated. Celebrating 100 Years of Sikh Presence in America
Sponsored by Gurdwaras of Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC
Saturday, May 9, 2015
The gathering place is the lawns near 19th St and Constitution Ave, DC (not Lincoln Memorial). Parkash will be at 10 am at this location, followed by kirtan. Parade will start from here at 12:30 pm and end at 3rd St. and Madison at 2:30 pm. Gurdwaras will march in alphabetical order. The first bus will leave GNFA at 8:30 am, and the next three as they fill up.  Buses will depart from end of parade route for GNFA at 4:00 pm. Please sign up for a bus spot at the treasurer’s desk at GNFA this evening or email Avtar Singh Barring at besttrucking@gmail.com or Gajinder Singh at gajindersingh@yahoo.com. Langar (breakfast and lunch) will be served at the venue. For the comfort of young children, it would be a good idea to bring a snack and drink along.
Sadh Sangat ji, let us participate in large numbers to commemorate the establishment of the Khalsa Panth and to celebrate 100 years of Sikh presence in America.

WASHINGTON: A beautiful sunshine marked the day at Maryland Gurdwara on Sunday, normally a place for religious activities, but it turned out a day of charity and care, set up by volunteer doctors and health organizations. A large number of attendees got themselves checked in free at the open health fair held at the Guru Nanak Foundation of America (GNFA) for the first time.
