Health Fair at Silver Spring Gurdwara draws over 500 from diverse communities across the DC Metropolitan area!

18 tents, 8 rooms, parking lot filled, 350 patients helped, 200 people got free lab tests sponsored by Quest Diagnostics, 185 people got free flu shots sponsored by Walgreens, 73 diabetic retinopathy screenings, 53 bone density scans.

On a pleasant and inspiring September afternoon the Sikh American community of Maryland, partnering with the American Diversity Group, hosted a successful Health Fair at the Guru Nanak Foundation of America (GNFA.)

Bhai Kahan Singh ji ‘Sevapanthi’ at GNFA, Fri, Sept 4.

Please attend kirtan-katha and discussion by Bhai Kahan Singh ji ‘Sevapanthi’ at GNFA on Friday, Sept 4, 8:45pm- 9:30 pm. Bhai sahib ji is associated with an organization called Bhai Kanhaiya Charitable Trust that runs dental and medical hospitals and several schools in Punjab. They are currently involved in building a cancer hospital in Punjab.

GNFA Youth Merit Award and Graduate Recognition – 2015

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀਕਾਖ਼ਾਲਸਾਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀਕੀਫ਼ਤਹਿ

  1. GNFA is pleased to announce its 2015 Youth merit award of $2,000 to a college bound HS Senior. Please read the attached compliance criteria and submit the application form no later than Sunday, July 19, 2015. A panel of Judges will interview and pick up the candidate on Saturday, July 25th. Merit Award will be presented on Sunday, July 26th in the afternoon Diwan.
  2. GNFA will also recognize all 2015 High School and College graduates of GNFA Community on Sunday, July 26th. Please forward your name with e-mail address to Gajinder Singh ASAP.

GNFA HOSTS SUCCESSFUL YOUTH KIRTAN SAMMELAN-program archived

The Dharmik Committee thanks the participants, parents, our bhai sahibs, teachers, and volunteers for a very successful sammelan on May 23 in which 39 youth jathas participated. The event will begin at 9:30 am sharp and conclude at 6 pm.

35 Jathas from Texas, New Jersey and the DMV area are participating.
Juniors (7-10 years) will go first, followed by Intermediates (11-14), Seniors (15-18) and Advanced (19-25).

The dress code for GNFA jathas is:
Girls: white salwar-kameez, bright yellow Khalsa School chunni.
Boys: white kurta-pajama, bright yellow Khalsa School dastaar.

If you don’t have that chunni or dastaar, please borrow from a Khalsa School friend or check with Harvinder (Reena) Aneja at hkaneja@yahoo.com if there are extras.

GNFA volunteers:
Women: white salwar-kameez, blue-kesri Khalsa School chunni
Men: white kurta-pajama, navy blue dastaar.
