GNFA Youth Merit Award and Graduate Recognition – 2015


  1. GNFA is pleased to announce its 2015 Youth merit award of $2,000 to a college bound HS Senior. Please read the attached compliance criteria and submit the application form no later than Sunday, July 19, 2015. A panel of Judges will interview and pick up the candidate on Saturday, July 25th. Merit Award will be presented on Sunday, July 26th in the afternoon Diwan.
  2. GNFA will also recognize all 2015 High School and College graduates of GNFA Community on Sunday, July 26th. Please forward your name with e-mail address to Gajinder Singh ASAP.

The Dharmik Committee thanks the participants, parents, our bhai sahibs, teachers, and volunteers for a very successful sammelan on May 23 in which 39 youth jathas participated. The entire program has been archived and can be viewed at We thank Sardar Manmohan Singh Chawla for this seva.

MDHIMSS annually awards scholarships of $2,500 each to two deserving students in the healthcare information system field:

  • one awarded to a student studying healthcare information systems or related computer science
  • one awarded to a student enrolled in certification or technical programs in computer technology, networking and telecommunications.

Applicants must reside or attend a Maryland school or university. MDHIMSS will award the recipients with a one year membership to MDHIMSS, one year assignment as a student member of the MDHIMSS Program Committee and free attendance at the MDHIMSS educational programs for one year.

Celebrating 100 Years of Sikh Presence in America
Sponsored by Gurdwaras of Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC
Saturday, May 9, 2015
The gathering place is the lawns near 19th St and Constitution Ave, DC (not Lincoln Memorial). Parkash will be at 10 am at this location, followed by kirtan. Parade will start from here at 12:30 pm and end at 3rd St. and Madison at 2:30 pm. Gurdwaras will march in alphabetical order. The first bus will leave GNFA at 8:30 am, and the next three as they fill up.  Buses will depart from end of parade route for GNFA at 4:00 pm. Please sign up for a bus spot at the treasurer’s desk at GNFA this evening or email Avtar Singh Barring at or Gajinder Singh at Langar (breakfast and lunch) will be served at the venue. For the comfort of young children, it would be a good idea to bring a snack and drink along.
Sadh Sangat ji, let us participate in large numbers to commemorate the establishment of the Khalsa Panth and to celebrate 100 years of Sikh presence in America.
